Looking At You

A Poem

As I stay beside you 
I find myself looking at you
The room feels warm, 
softened by your presence.
As you are asleep,
My gaze rests upon you,
With love filling my heart,
And a glow in my eyes.


As you breathe may 
your head rest easy,
May each breathe you
take grant you relief,
And Let each exhale
Gently wash away 
burdens from the chest .


Let this moment
bring you peace
And the veins of stress 
transform into streams
of happiness
May God take away 
the sadness that dimmed 
the colour of your eyes.


As you place your arm
under your head 
Let me sit here—
Just three inches away 
In this quietness
You sleep peacefully.


Let the gentle waves 
whisper my love,
In the spaces between 
your breaths
Let the silence tell you 
I'm here with you
In this moment may your 
dreams be beautiful.


I'll write silently,
Holding this pen with care
As if I'm holding your hand,
Each word a form of prayer .


When I leave this room
And when you open your eyes 
I hope you smell the scent 
of the ink, a quiet reminder
that love was here.


And with it, may you 
softly smile,carrying a piece 
of this stillness and 
feeling my presence 
even if I'm gone.
